HOW TO PLAY · BEFORE YOU BOARD

Your journey, step by step.

  1. Check your two stations. At the top of the game, “You are at” is where you begin. “Destination” is where you need to finish.
  2. Look at the departure board. Each row is a train leaving your current station. The time is its departure time; “useful stop” shows a stop that can help you continue toward your destination.
  3. Tap one train row. That train’s stops will open directly underneath its row. Tap the same row again to close it, or tap a different train to see its stops.
  4. Choose your next station.Tap a stop listed under the train you chose. You’ll travel there, and the departure board will update for that station.
  5. Repeat until you arrive.Choose another train only when you need to change. Try to reach your destination using as few train changes as you can.

Need to look around? Drag the map to move it, use + and − to zoom, or search for a station by name. The map helps you see where stations are; choose your ride from the departure board.

ABOUT THE DATA

Historical railway timetable.

Waiting List is an independent route puzzle, not an official Indian Railways service. Its departure boards use train numbers, names, stops and scheduled times from a historical Ministry of Railways timetable published on the Government of India Open Data portal. This historical data is not for real travel. Operating weekdays are not included, so the puzzle treats each listed service as daily. Always verify a service before travelling.

The game includes the mapped subset of historical services that connect stations shown on its schematic rail map. Station positions are approximate. The daily puzzle is the same for everyone on a given date.
